As we entered the room, it reminded us of a scene from "Frankie and Annette's Beach Blanket Bingo." Hmm? Could it be that an American was behind it's creation? We both felt right at ease but it was "too American" for Frank. As for myself, I loved it and could have ate there every night. Basically, the whole restaurant is a beach with a hut over it, and the stools to sit are made of tree trunks.
Our American host for the evening displayed the entire menu on frozen ice. Everything looked so delicious! After you order your dinner there, the chefs cook your meal immediately. The food was of great quality fish, beef, and chicken, but it wasn't anything to write home about! Although, Elena would beg to differ. For dessert, Elena ordered the chocolate mousse and Frank ordered the coconut tart, which was shaped like a pie. Both desserts were flawless.
Everyone there spoke perfect English and were very courteous to Americans. Our waiter was very friendly, and taught us how to say "Thank you" in Polynesian, "Maruru". It was one of the most enchanting evenings of my life.
